Some of the basic rules: Foreign language courses are way apart from other courses and you should never stall the proceedings. Any postponement means failure in a foreign language course where it is mandatory to put in minimum of 3 hours weekly and 15 minutes on a daily basis. Try to spend as much time as is in your hands but never devote more than 45 minutes per session when you are learning the language.
Distribute your whole study into small units. If you are serious about passing the examination then attend classes regularly. Run through your past learning on a regular basis as this is going to improve your learning for example check out your stock of vocabulary. Hints given blow would make your attempt to learn the foreign language easier.

Grasping the written words: Check out only those words where no conjecture can help or whose meanings can not be surmised. Make it a routine to browse through the chapters of the textbook everyday.
Move on to talking: Everyone makes mistakes so listen to what others are saying and start to talk. Practice speaking out loud on your own, in a group of friends studying the same foreign language and with your pets such as a dog or cat.
Putting pen to paper: Practice your skills on putting down your thoughts on paper till it becomes effortless.
Ask a friend to dictate a passage of the language and then later check it for accuracy.
Miscellany: Study the foreign language with a positive frame of mind, have pre-set objectives and goals. Make sure you are fully aware of what your goals are and how to reach there. {1.f you need help get it and do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help for fear of sounding stupid, or being embarrassed.} There is nothing to feel embarrassed when you need help or have questions in your mind. {2.Get audio tapes of the language and listen to them or make you own tapes and listened to yourself in order to perfect your pronunciation.} 2. 3.Make flash cards for vocabulary and try using different colors for different genders of the words and for different categories of words such as nouns, verbs and adjectives. 4.Practice in study groups and become good friends with some of your classmates because they can help you out.
